Lansbery Ledger--April Edition

Happy Easter. Somewhere in Post Falls, a search goes on . . . for beer. We hope to have exclusive pictures of the event in the May edition. Meanwhile, in Newport, Oregon a dream is realized. . .

Sleep Study--Jeff cures Amanda's snoring during a recent trip to Newport.

April Birthdays:

Molly Hoebeck--4/7
Mark Mullins--4/27

Ironman Watch: My training is increasing by the week as I prepare to compete in the 2010 Ironman Coeur d'Alene. This year I will be a part of Team Socal and have been soliciting sponsors to offset entry and training costs. The new uniforms look great and will be adorned with business logos from my sponsors. After spending time in Hawaii we're anxious to go back, and what better way then to qualify for the Kona race.

I'm also looking forward to traveling to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in November to take part in the Heart Run with heart patients from all over North America. There will be relay teams and a full marathon on tap.

That's the story from the newsroom, keep those cards and letters coming.

March Lansbery Ledger

In This Issue: We play "Where's Kristen?" Much snow in Baltimore.

Actually, as you can see by the next photo Kristen was able to commute just fine.

Meanwhile, back in Yuma, a warm front is moving in . . .

Also in this issue: Melissa Bour makes the Deans list, I make a grocery list.
March Birthdays
Ron McHugill--3/15
Laurie something--3/27 (she's older than me!)
Grandpa Bruce--3/29
Wayne Wright--3/31

Well, the winter Olympics are in the books. Many records were set and broken, including the number of condoms passed out to Olympic athletes. Boy, you'd have to go to Yuma to see that kind of action!

I'm revamping my personal website-www.jumpstartmyheart.org and will let you know when it's finished.

As a parting shot I thought you might enjoy hearing my friend Kevin, and his singing cat, Elvis.

Happy New Year January 2010 Ledger

I've had issues with two computers lately and as a result the January Ledger was delayed. I'm still not out of the woods yet but at least I can post. In fact, my pc crashed again as I was putting this together so I must be brief.

I hope you all had a great holiday season and are looking forward to the new year with positive aspirations as I am. I'm studying to be a Certified Personal Trainer and will go through the American College of Sports Medicine to earn my certificate. Chris is very interested in this as well and it's a tug of war to get my reference books away from him to study!

By the way, or btw to you texters, Chris is now employed! After about six months of searching he was hired by Market of Choice, an upscale grocery chain. After his 90 day grace period he'll be full-time with benefits. Also, I learned of a website devoted solely to cardiac athletes--http://www.cardiacathletes.org/ and became a member in November.
I'm excited at the prospect of sharing my successful recovery with others. There's a race planned in November, in Harrisburg, Pa. and heart patients from around the world are invited to run. I believe it's a marathon relay.

We have a new addition to the family who goes by the name of Kollan James Heck, born on Christmas Day. Congratulations to Cody and Co. Something must be done about that blue he's wearing. Wayne, that's your cue.
Well, this about does it for January. Keep those cards and letters coming.

The following is copied from an e-mail and is worth posting here:

Put your car keys beside your bed at night
Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents, your Dr's office, the check-out girl at the market, everyone you run across. Put your car keys beside your bed at night.
If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.
This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this:
It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it.
It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain....
It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won't stick around.
After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that..

Have a great holiday season and we'll meet in January for the next ledger.

Aloha

These vidoes are a part of our time in Hawaii. I hope you enjoy them.

Kona Sunset

Hilo Rain

Queen K Highway--I was riding a bike in this next video, and I realize it's hard to hear me because of the wind, but that's what I was trying to convey. The headwind was so strong at times I could only manage 9-10 mph on a flat surface. When I turned around I was going 26 mph with the tailwind. This was all part of my fifty year triathlon. Since I was turning fifty and was in Kona where the Ironman championship is held I decided to do it right. I swam fifty minutes in Kailua Bay, cycled fifty miles on the Queen K Highway, and ran fifty minutes from the Natural Energy Labs back to town. Not bad for fifty.

Proper meeting etiquette.

"El Cuento de Los Abuelos"

Aloha! Carol and I are going to Hawaii in 9 short days to celebrate our 25th anniversary and my 50th birthday. I'll ring in 50 by swimming for fifty minutes, biking for fifty miles, and running for fifty minutes all on the official Ironman World Championship course in Kona, Hawaii. We'll also do some romantic thing for our anniversary I'm sure. Just kidding, both days will be special for us.

I also have a speaking engagement lined up at the Straub Medical Center on Oahu, right down the street from Pearl Harbor. Can't wait for that either.
